Howard Tenens signs London-focused green JV with Downton

LBR Staff Writer Published 13 June 2011

Supply chain management, logistics and distribution company Howard Tenens has signed a joint venture with UK logistics specialist Downton focusing solely on transport contracts in London.

The joint venture will trade under the name 'D&T Logistics', and is the latest measure in the firm's sustainable logistics pledges.

Howard Tenens joint MD Ben Morris said this partnership is a stand-alone company and will allow them to operate more efficiently in and around the capital by having access to each other's fleets and pools of local subcontractors.

"The venture is expected to deliver a reduction in miles travelled and subsequently fuel costs for Howard Tenens which fits with our sustainable logistics strategy," Morris said.

To power its new dual-fuel HGV fleet which runs on natural gas and diesel, Howard Tenens has installed Gas refuelling stations in its depots in Andover, Boston and South Ockendon, over the last one year.

Howard's three gas refuelling stations will also offer gas for sale to other operators.
